Privacy information for EchoLeaf on iPhone and Mac. Updated 29 October 2026.
Updated October 29, 2026 · iPhone & MacEchoLeaf by Lezan
Lezan develops EchoLeaf. This page explains how the current iPhone and Mac apps handle your voice, text and account information.
Voice and transcription
EchoLeaf’s on-device speech models process recordings on your iPhone or Mac. On iPhone, if you explicitly select an Apple online language, Apple may receive your recording for speech recognition. EchoLeaf does not automatically switch an on-device language to an online service.
Audio for an unfinished or unsuccessful take stays on the device so you can finish, retry or discard it. Successfully processed recordings are removed. Completed text is saved in your local History without a fixed word cap.
The iPhone keyboard
EchoLeaf’s keyboard and containing app share completed text and preferences through local shared app storage. Full Access enables this communication.
Enabling Keyboard microphone starts an explicitly authorized microphone session that can continue while you use another app. Audio between takes is discarded. Turn the session off in EchoLeaf when you no longer need it. iOS or another microphone-using app can interrupt the session.
Writing on Mac
Microphone permission captures your speech. Input Monitoring detects the Fn/Globe gesture. Accessibility access helps EchoLeaf identify the focused editor and insert your completed text.
Insertion uses the Mac clipboard. EchoLeaf checks the destination field and, where available, its contents in memory to avoid inserting into the wrong place. If insertion cannot be confirmed, your transcript remains available to copy. Local operational diagnostics record setup and delivery states, not transcript text or typed keys.
Sign in with Apple
EchoLeaf requires Sign in with Apple. It stores your Apple sign-in identifier and the name you choose to share securely in the device’s Keychain. EchoLeaf does not receive your Apple password.
History, drafts, dictionary entries and saved takes are associated with your signed-in account on that device. Signing out hides this content; it does not delete it. Apple sign-in validation may require an internet connection.
Word usage and purchases
A local usage ledger stores word totals, recording identifiers and dates to apply the weekly allowance and avoid counting the same completed take twice. It contains no audio or transcript text. Each emoji counts as one word.
Usage is maintained on each device; it is not synchronized between devices. When subscriptions become available, Apple processes payment and supplies signed purchase records. EchoLeaf uses those records to determine whether Pro is active.
Your controls
Manage microphone, speech recognition, keyboard, Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions in your device’s settings. You can remove saved history entries, discard pending recordings, sign out, or delete local account data in EchoLeaf.
Deleting local account data removes the account’s saved content, profile and usage ledger from that installation. It does not cancel an Apple subscription or remove EchoLeaf’s Sign in with Apple authorization. Manage those separately in your Apple Account settings. Deletion on one device does not delete copies on another device.
